I'm sorry, but I didn't understand what you said. All files will stay up forever as long as they are downloaded at least once every 10 days.

All files are gone, even the one which i uploaded yesterday, what's going on???????

I'm not really sure. I think the server may have been hacked. The files are still all in the database, but they don't exist on the hard drive. More word on what to do.

This is not cool, did you guys back anything up? Many of my friends have left your service because of stuff like this.. Things happen and we are not notified until someone comes to us stating out link is broken. Its really unprofessional.

Well, nothing to do but be honest.

The server was hacked, and some secret backdoor was opened so no amount of patching up holes could stop the hacker. I began stopping the hacker's processes, so in retaliation is appears that he deleted all the users files, along with all the backups.

The final answer I could come up with was to format the drive and try again. I was able to save most of the denhost files, but all the come2store files were lost. You have to also understand, that backing up ALL of the uploaded information just isn't possible. It is too much. However there is a large backup hard drive that backs up the majority of the information.

I won't say this new server is unhackable (because that would be like issuing a challenge that I don't want to issue), but I've implemented a lot more security features. Not to mention that this version of linux (debian) is more secure for those that know about security issues. The site will be a lot more secure and stable now.

At the moment, the server is being reloaded. I'll repost when everything is back to normal.

That is unacceptable! You really should plan to back up the files you are entrusted with, The main reason people put them on your site is to back them up in case something happens to their machines, and now we are out of our backups because you didnt back up ... Your reasoning for not backing up is rather lame, but instead of complaning about it on this thread, I will simply forget that I have space here, I stuck with you guys through the links not working every other minute and to me you all just dont care about what you are doing here.

I'm sorry you feel this way. The way we keep this service free is by cutting costs where we can. Making backups would take twice as much space, and our biggest problem now is finding enough space to store everything.

Members with upgraded accounts have their files backed up, but free accounts do not.
